The Works include the supply and installation of plant, materials, equipment, tools, test equipment, consumables, supervision, labour, transportation, technical and professional services necessary for the construction, installation, erection, testing and commissioning of all types of Electrical, Instrumentation and Control.
Inspecting, receiving, taking custody, transporting, handling and positioning, aligning and bolting down of all Client supplied equipment. Supply, delivery, storing and safe custody of SMEI’s supplied plant and material. Implementation of a Cable Management System to monitor cable lengths installed, cables still to be installed, cables in reserve at the SMEI’s storage facility.
Submit, to the Engineer, details to certify that factory tests and inspections, as prescribed in the Client Specifications and the SANS standards, have been completed and witnessed by the Client or the Client’s Representative before delivery of SMEI supplied plant and material to the Site as required.
- HV or MV Switchgear – Handling, Rigging, Position and Fixing, Installation Assistance to Vendor, Commissioning Assistance.
- HV or MV Switchgear Metering and Protection Panels – Handling, Rigging, Position and Fixing, Installation Assistance to Vendor, Commissioning Assistance.
- HV or MV Skid Breakers (SB) – Handling, Rigging, Position and Fixing, Installation, Commissioning.
- Oil-filled and Dry-Type Distribution and Lighting Transformers – Handling, Rigging, Installation and Commissioning.
- Neutral Earthing Resistors (NERs) Panels – Handling, Installation and Commissioning.
- Motor Control Centres (MCCs) – Handling, Rigging, Position and Fixing, Installation Assistance to Vendor, Commissioning Assistance.
- Small Power Distribution Boards (MDBs & DBs) – Handling, Rigging, Position and Fixing, Installation, Commissioning.
- Field Isolator Stations and Local Control Stations – Handling, Rigging, Position and Fixing, Installation, Commissioning.
- Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) – Handling, Rigging, Position and Fixing, Installation Assistance to Vendor, Commissioning Assistance.
- Uninterrupted Power Supplies (UPSs) – Handling, Installation and Commissioning. Miniature Substations (MSSs), including plinths – Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning.
- Medium and Low Voltage Power and Trailing Cables – Supply, Installation, Termination, Testing and Commissioning.
- High Mast Lights (HML) – Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning E x Bare and Insulated Copper Earth wire (E/W) – Supply, Installation, Termination Power and Control Cables Joints and Terminations – Supply, Install and Commission Welding Socket Outlets and Switched Socket Outlets – Supply, Install and Commission.
- Earthing and Lightning Protection – Structural and equipment earthing and bonding to Electrical Plant Room Earth bars.
- Cable racking, Cable strapping, Cable numbering, Support steel, Trunking/conduit, Ducting and angle iron cable support – Supply, Install and Earthing/bonding thereof.
- Lighting fittings – Supply and Install including associated with cable and light fitting support structures in accordance with the Installation Drawings.
- 33kV & 1000V Power Cable (Contractor Supplied Item): The Contractor shall be required to supply, inspect, test and deliver the power cable to the job site. Install, terminate and test cable from the source to destination points.
- Bulk Electrical Plant (Contractor Supplied Items): The Contractor shall be required to supply and install the bulk electrical plant i.e.: cable racking, cable racking support structures and sundry steel, cable markers, cable straps lighting fittings, small power lighting junction boxes, lighting poles, conduit, and all associated materials welding and small power socket outlets earthing up to the earth busbars at the electrical plant rooms plant room and transformer bay danger signs, fire extinguishers, fire protection of cables.
- Excavations: The Contractor shall complete the excavation works required for the installation of the power cable. Allowance shall be made for suitable selected bedding and backfill material, cable warning tape, concrete cables slabs and cable markers, etc.
- Oil Filled and Dry-Type Distribution Transformers – Procure, if necessary, inspect, test, position and install the units in the transformer bay areas, as well as terminate associated power and control cables.
- Handle, position and fix the MCC Tiers in the MCC/VSD Room. Final installation and commissioning shall be done by the MCC Vendor, with Contractor’s Assistance. Contractor to terminate power and control cables after the MCC Vendor’s final installation.
- Commissioning will be done by the MCC supplier with assistance of the Contractor.
